Foxbury Farm Feast and AGM

Foxbury Farm will put together for us a taster show of their award winning meats, alongside local cheeses, seasonal vegetables, breads and desserts, to be washed down with local wines, beers and ciders. All for £10 a person, in an enviable setting at their farm on the edge of the Cotswolds. You will also have the opportunity to shop at their Best in the South East farm shop and with some luck, we may even get a tour of their butchery.

Will and his chefs will use locally sourced organic ingredients to make apple and parsnip soup, sausages stewed in apples and an apple & pear crumble. And I have invited local apple growers to attend and talk us through the rich apple heritage of this country and whatever is left of it in the South

Manzanilla : Book Club + Dinner

Our next event is a special treat, at the Cherwell Boathouse Restaurant in Oxford, bringing two in one: a book discussion on Manzanilla by Javier Hidalgo and Christopher Fielden and a 4-course dinner.

Javier will be there to talk to us about Manzanilla. For those of you (like me) who don’t know what Manzanilla is, Google says it’s a variety of fino sherry. I am sure Javier will tell us a much greater deal about it. La Gitana, his manzanilla , won Gold for fortified wine at the IWC competition recently. The Boathouse has also won Best Fine Wine List of the Year in the Imbibe Magazine trophy sponsored by Louis Roederer.

So, the evening will start with the book group, 7-7.30 to discuss Javier & Christopher Fielden’s book Manzanilla (available on amazon) , with a glass of manzanilla (complimentary). Then the restaurant will be open to all for a Sherry dinner, priced about £40. It will be a 4 course meal with tutored tasting flights and a glass of sherry with each course, probably a glass of red wine with the main course. So I think it should be a great evening, Javier always speaks very well and the wines are fabulous. Jolly good value too!

The event is planned for Monday 22 November, 7pm.
